  • What is a group?
    • A group is a means by which GenomeQuest allows its users to save time, and efficiency by giving users the ability to share results with members of the same group or team.
  • What is a tag?
    • A tag is the ability to "tag" a previous run or result, so that you can quickly find them in the near future.

Use Case:

  1. A user has mapped reads and called variants utilizing the Whole Genome Analysis workflow, and a coworker needs to be able to get at the data. Rather than spend a large amount of time uploading reads and analyzing the data again, the user can simply share their results with the coworker, because the coworker is a member of the same group.
  2. A user has a large number of results divided into several files, and they wish to get at a certain dataset, but they cannot remember where they put it exactly. Luckily, they gave the result an intuitive tag "variant_list_June", and they can now find that very same run both quickly, and effectively.

  • Using Groups:
    • In order to utilize GenomeQuest's grouping capabilities, please follow the instructions below.
  1. At the GenomeQuest Dashboard page, you can create groups or teams in two ways.
    1. Navigate to the previous run or result, expand the result, and then select the "share tab", and then click the highlighted "quickly create a team" link.
      1. Next give your team a Name and Description, if desired:

  • Important Notes:
    • You cannot see nor share data with persons who are not in your team or group.
    • If you decide to share data with a member of a group, they can create sub-directories inside the directory you shared, but they cannot change the name, delete, re-share, or move the item.

  • Using Tags:
  • To use a 'tag' in GenomeQuest, please use the following instructions:
    • At the GenomeQuest Dashboard page, navigate to a previous run or result.
  1. Hover your mouse over the white-space pertaining to a result, and it will turn bright yellow.
  2. Now, click, and the result will expand.
  3. Next, you can click on the "Tags" section, and follow the instructions to create your corresponding tag.
  4. To search a tag, simply use the search tool at the GenomeQuest dashboard by specifying the tag type, putting the tag name in the corresponding text-field, and hitting 'Apply'.

  • Important Notes:
    • Only administrators with universal permissions have the ability to create and distribute tags for a run. If you wish to have a tag created for a run, please contact your administrator.
